Privacy Policy

The short version

We do not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. We collect personal data in one place only: the report form, where we ask for your email address so we can confirm you are a real customer. We never publish your email, sell it, or use it for marketing.

Visiting the site

Our web host keeps standard server logs: your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. These are used for security and troubleshooting. We do not set cookies and we do not run analytics on this site.

If you tick Compare on a few hosts, your browser remembers your picks (the host names) in its own local storage so the compare bar stays put as you move between pages. That stays on your device. We never receive it, and you can clear it in your browser settings.

Pages load their fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests them, Google receives your IP address and browser details. We load nothing else from other companies’ servers.

Reports you send us

When you use the report form we store what you enter:

  • the host you are reporting on, the topic, whether the problem was fixed, how long you have been a customer, and the date it happened (optional)
  • your description of what happened, up to 600 characters
  • your account email address

We use your email address for one thing: sending a single confirmation link to check that the report comes from a real account holder. It is never published and never shown next to your report. We do not send marketing email.

A report is held back until you confirm your email and we review it. If we publish it, your description appears as you wrote it, with the topic and how long you have been a customer. Please do not put your name, account numbers or other personal details in the description. Reports are not edited, and a host cannot change or remove one.

Spam protection

The form has a hidden field that real visitors leave empty. To limit abuse, we count submissions per connection using a scrambled form of your IP address (a hash). That count is kept for one hour and then discarded.

Uptime checks

An automated service run through Cloudflare requests each listed host’s public website every 5 minutes and records whether it answered. It collects nothing about visitors to this site.

Who handles your data

We do not sell or rent personal data. It is handled by the companies that run the site: our web host (which stores the site, the reports and the server logs and sends the confirmation email), Cloudflare (uptime checks only) and Google (fonts). We may disclose data if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Reports that are never confirmed are never published. They are moved to the trash after 30 days, and the trash is emptied automatically, so they are gone within about two months.
  • Confirmed reports are kept while they count toward a host’s score, together with the email used to confirm them, so we can handle duplicates and removal requests.
  • Server logs are kept for the period set by our web host.

Your choices

You can ask us to remove a report you sent, to delete your email address, or to tell you what we hold about you. We handle these requests for everyone, wherever you live. Anyone in the EU, the UK or California may have legal rights to access, correct and delete their data, and we honor those too.

Children

This site is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
